paranoia will restore my faith in human capacities

I am utterly fascinated (and a bit scared) with the internet blackout that still is going on over parts of Asia. Indeed, Iran is 100% offline: http://www.internettrafficreport.com/history/267.htm

Also, earlier reports that the first two cables to have been cut were severed by a ship's anchor appear to be erroneous, since they are two miles from each other!

All in all I've been able to confirm the above, plus at least one more cable being lost on Friday. There are rumours of a fourth one having been cut on Saturday morning, but I have not been able to find any confirmation for that yet. However, the bit about Israel and Iraq not losing any connectivity is scarily true:"Some countries, such as Israel, Lebanon and Iraq , were able to avoid the disruption by using a cable unaffected." (from http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7009890808)

All this may not mean much, however, since other places such as Colombia and a server in Florida for example are also currently offline. It all may be a giant horrible coincidence, but my paranoid bones are still tingling.
